The "weeping wood" has given it, the milestone of rubbing

Rubber is and will remain one of the most diverse uses for human everyday life
 

Originally in Brazil with world monopolization at home, 70,000 seeds were smuggled out of Brazil by the Englishman Henry Wickam living in the Amazon in 1876, 2000 germinated in English greenhouses and arrive as young plants to East Asia. While in Brazil and the Amazon region gum trees were singled out in the forest and therefore had to be cared for time consumed,  the Far East quickly developed a new plantation system, which could be used to procure additional potential for world demand. The Brazilian sales monopoly was thus broken through. The development of the vehicle industry also boosted world demand for rubber rapidly. "Living in Nippes at Clouth!

The edition 2 had a huge start problem! (Now there is the edition 4)

The complete manuscript by Manfred Backhausen stood at the end of 2005 and was ready to print! The printer of the first edition, which had already received an advance in addition to the manuscript, was commissioned, but then nothing more was heard of it. What to do? There are several ways to go for a lawyer. The mills of the judiciary are working slowly, too long for the second edition to be issued. In such cases, with a little luck, the delinquent can be looked directly at, and he has acted as well. In addition to the print photos for the color photos, we got the CD with the supposedly important data for printing, the layout was however manufactured in the obsolete software version Freehand 10 and only crunchable by the creator . So that ment new software, new layout and again intensive work. The result can be seen and complements and / or renews the 1st edition also with the planned planning of the Clouth site in Nippes. We wish you Germans a lot of pleasure in studying the german presentations and the illustrations about the company "Clouth", which has shaped and bounded Nippes, Cologne and many employees.                             The future use of the "Clouth site" by the City of Cologne

Production at the Clouth plant of Contitech Transportbandsysteme GmbH was discontinued on December 16, 2005, not because the shops were running badly, on the contrary, the order situation was still very good. The company has not yet decided on a possible relocation of production at the independent Clouth-Gummiwalzen GmbH, especially since this company still had a long-term leasing contract until 2010. The site was suppossed later to be developed into an independent residential area with additional non-interfering commercial use and a densification corresponding to the situation in the urban area. That has now in 2017 been realized.  Ultimately, the town was given a strong building structure, which allowed different types of housing. All in all, a diversified new district of high atmospheric quality has been reached. Nippes is close to Ehrenfeld and has now become a favourite place. One of the largest mosques in Germany was build there, which, together with an affiliated infrastructure alone, will lead to an ethnic change in the composition of the population for Ehrenfeld anyway. The strong protests of the current population in this planning suggested that planning in Cologne's north of the city would slip from the hands of the population; Ultimately, the population will vote with their feet and determine whether the planned atmospheric quality will become reality. The association "Industriedenkmal Clouth e.V." was founded in May 2006. The society has set itself the goal of building an industrial monument for Franz Clouth and the company. After the extensive closure of the Clouth location in Cologne-Nippes, the authors of the book asked how the change to this important Nipesser and Cologne-based company could be sustained.

To achieve this goal, artists should also be asked to create a work of art in which all aspects of Clouth's 140-year history are reproduced. Several models for a monument were presented and discussed at several open board meetings.  Jürgen P.Clouth has not been involved for a long time (2008), but this is another story within the framework of the German homepage.

Book Edition 1

By Messrs. Backhausen and Eckart, a series of documents, pictures, Documents, exhibits, which was thankfully also made possible by many "Clouthians" (this is what the former employees) were called to this extent. The exhibition itself therefore represented only a part of the collected material.
The opening on 19 January 2004 was remarkably successful, as many old members of the Civil Service, especially Mrs. Witte,  92 years old , Chief Secretary of Max Clouth visited the event. Thanks also to Mr. Backhausen Senior, who had contributed greatly to the success of the exhibition after the presentation of his son. For the success it was particularly significant that especially employees like Mr. Backhauser Senior could and did contribute from their own practice to the history and exhibition configuration.
